February 1 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

“Forty years ago, he tried to kill himself. Today, he’s going back to change his mind.” The Cape Breton premiere of The Rose will be presented at the McConnell Regional Library in Sydney on Thursday, February 1 at 7:00PM. The Rose, a locally produced short film (12 min), tells the story of a man travelling back 40 years in time to meet his younger self during a pivotal moment in his life. The film was written/produced by Dan Yakimchuk and directed by Kenn Crawford. The film has a positive message but deals with youth suicide, addiction, redemption and recovery. A panel discussion will follow the screening featuring Yakimchuk, Crawford, and actor Aiden Lee-Dadswell. Support materials on youth mental health issues will be available. An online media screening is available upon request.
